Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival

May 28th, 2012 admin Uncategorized No comments

Well, we just returned from our farm’s first vending at KSFF May 2012 in Lexington! It was an adventure for us, and the 3 goats we took along for the ride- Jolie, Pip, and Tweed did great and everyone loved meeting them. My goats have never been off the farm, so I was worried about how they would handle the trip.

The booth was a success, we sold a large amount of pygora fiber – rovings and clouds, natural colors and dyed- both. Thank you to everyone that purchased from the farm- it means so  much to have someone want something you, and the goats, have worked so hard on producing. We shear our own goats, sort and pick the fleece, then wash and hand-dye the fleece. Outside of commercially de-hairing, we try to do everything here on the farm. I am still learning to perfect my spinning, and I hope to have some farm-spun yarn to sell in the future.

We do plan on returning to KSFF in 2013, and are making plans to look at some closer venues. Currently, I am working on getting my ETSY site up and going. In the mean time, please email if you would like some fiber- dawntbrown@mac.com

Again, thanks to all that took home some lovely pygora fleece and fiber- enjoy it!!  It is blissful to spin!
