Winter on the farm

January 14th, 2013 admin Uncategorized Comments Off

Looks like it is going to be a cold and wet winter this year- from snow and ice, we are now this week into flooding rain with freezing temperatures expected again. Goats are tolerating the weather well so far, but are bored in the barn!

Had a wonderful ” fiber ” fall- attended SAFF for classes and participated in the color-angora fleece show. Our goat Nash placed 3rd out of 13 in his class! I went on to Camp Pluckyfluff in Navasota, Texas- learned a lot of new spinning techniques, and met some wonderful people! In December, I took another spinning class at the Arkansas Fiber Extravaganza. I joined two new guilds, Ozark Fiber Folk ( Mountain View, Arkansas) and Central Arkansas Spinning Guild(Little Rock, Arkansas), and I continue to participate in the Memphis guild- Midsouth Spinning Guild. My new Ashford drum carder is a fun, new source of creativity!!

We will be vending at some upcoming fiber festivals this spring after kidding season. We will be at The Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival in May, as well as sharing a booth with Creekview Crafts at Dickson, Tennessee on Memorial Day Weekend. In June I will be vending at a newly started festival- Magnolia State Fiber Festival- in Vicksburg Mississippi-should be fun!

Looking forward to a happy and productive 2013. Many new plans for our farm as it continues to expand!
